Wheels down at Trudeau. Then the long French autumn.

Out of Hong Kong on a Thursday, Montréal by Friday afternoon — Air Canada via YVR. October peak autumn-foliage week ahead, the maples in the Eastern Townships and Charlevoix turning red to orange to yellow on a single hillside. Eight nights ahead on a St. Lawrence-spine rental-car loop — three in Montréal for the Old Town and the Plateau, two in Québec City inside the only walled city north of Mexico, two in Charlevoix for the Saint-Joseph maple river, and one final night back in Montréal for the morning flight east. The French-Canadian flavour is distinct from the rest of Canada · the food is heavier · the autumn is louder in colour.
