Wheels down at Changi. Then five nights inside the city-state.
Out of Hong Kong on a Saturday morning, Singapore by Saturday afternoon — Singapore Airlines or Cathay direct, four hours south. Five nights ahead inside the 728-square-kilometre city-state — three in Marina Bay for the SkyPark and the Supertree Grove, two through Chinatown and Tiong Bahru for the heritage shophouses and the hawker centres, with a side day out on Sentosa Island for the resort beaches and the cable car back. The northeast monsoon has eased by mid-February; the morning haze has finally cleared off Indonesia and the noon thermometer hits a steady 31 °C, the kind of perfect light pollution-free haze Singapore promises but rarely delivers.
