Air Tahiti 50 min hop to Bora Bora (BOB) for three nights — over-water bungalow stay, snorkel the lagoon, Mt. Out of Hong Kong on a Friday, Papeete by Saturday morning — Air Tahiti Nui via Auckland, French Polynesia 17,000 km away across the Pacific. Austral winter ahead, the trade-wind season at 26 °C dry, the lagoons mirror-flat from June to August. Eight nights across three Society Islands and one Tuamotu atoll — one in Tahiti at the start for the Papeete market, two on Moorea for the pineapple plantations and the snorkel with sting-rays in the lagoon, three on Bora Bora for the over-water bungalow and the Mount Otemanu silhouette at sunset, and two on Rangiroa, the second-largest atoll in the world, for the pass dive among dolphins and the lagoon-within-a-lagoon. Two nights on Moorea, Tahiti's heart-shaped sister. The lagoon at Tiahura has sting-rays so habituated to humans they drape across the snorkeler's shins, black-tip reef sharks circling 10 m away.

Three nights at the volcanic island wrapped in its own lagoon. Mount Otemanu sits in the middle, the over-water bungalow extends 30 m into the water, the snorkel starts at the deck ladder.

Final lunch at the Papeete municipal market — a bowl of poisson cru à la tahitienne (raw tuna in coconut milk + lime + tomato + cucumber) at a market kitchen, mahi-mahi grillé on a banana leaf. Last vanilla bean from a Faaa stall, taxi to Papeete-Faaa Airport at dusk, Air Tahiti Nui west via AKL. Hong Kong by morning of the day after. Eight nights — one at the Papeete waterfront, two with Moorea''s shark bay on the eyeline, three with Mount Otemanu over the over-water bungalow, two on Rangiroa with the dolphin pod at Tiputa Pass. The poisson cru and the Hinano and the pareo-and- monoï life already half-remembered.
